CONGRATULATIONS

With this purchase you have opted for the original and thus for the right way of sitting 2.0. The BALIMO® movement trainer, which was developed using aspects of kinesiology, is based on the idea of active sitting. With its patented technology, it ensures permanent balance of the centre of the body and the pelvis and thus promotes blood circulation and dynamic muscle work while sitting.

The BALIMO® with its 360° mobile seat also motivates an active, upright posture that relieves the spine and strengthens the muscles. The interplay of tension and relaxation of the muscles during training with the BALIMO® during everyday sitting is also important in order to prevent muscular complaints. Overall, the BALIMO® promotes balance and awareness of posture and thus generates a better feeling for the body.

Active sitting – for a strong back!

We hope you enjoy your BALIMO®.

THE BALIMO ® PRINCIPLE

It all comes down to one thing – being able to carry out the most natural movement possible while sitting. This is possible with the BALIMO®, because the patented ball joint is at the optimal distance from the spine and the BALIMO®’s point of movement is close to the body’s natural point of movement – the pelvis. This ensures that the pelvis can move straight to the centre of the body as if it were suspended from the spine. If the chair moves far away from the pelvis, the spine kinks in as a compensatory movement and dynamic sitting is impossible, as can be seen here in the video. With the BALIMO®, your body benefits from numerous positive effects on health and well-being and improves the quality of your movement – from head to toe.

The advantages of the BALIMO® at a glance:

  • improves sitting posture
  • strengthens the back muscles
  • dissolves blockages in the pelvis and spine
  • dissolves adhesions of the fascia
  • trains the pelvic floor
  • reactivates connections between the brain and muscles

THE RIGHT SEAT HEIGHT & IMPORTANT TIPS

Preparation:

Sit on the BALIMO® Wood. Its seat can be tilted by up to 20° in any direction. Using the central rod, you can adjust your seat height individually.

Adjust the seat height:

In order to adjust the seat height of the BALIMO® Wood up or down, you can lift the centre rod directly (see illustration), insert the metal pin in one of the 8 holes and turn the centre rod once to the right into the lock position. The seat is now firmly attached to the frame.

Tip:

Your back muscles first have to get used to active, dynamic sitting. Mild muscle soreness is a sign of training and not a cause for concern. Over time, the BALIMO® movement trainer will strengthen your back so that you won’t want to sit on any other stool.

SITTING POSITION

Assume a sitting position:

You find the correct sitting position if you place yourself in the middle of the seat cushion and you select the height of the BALIMO® so that your thigh slopes slightly towards the lower leg and both form an angle that is greater than 90° (see illustration on the right) . To do this, place your feet shoulder-width apart on the floor. You are at right angles to your ankle.

Important:

The BALIMO® has to be adjusted to your height and not to your desk height. This is important so that the body does not have to constantly compensate for differences and you can tilt or move your pelvis freely and as far as possible in all directions.

FIRST EXERCISES WITH THE BALIMO®

Simple training units for active-dynamic sitting: Slowly move your pelvis back and forth. Then left and right. Try a few circular movements clockwise as well as counter-clockwise.

Please note:

Perform the movements on the BALIMO® slowly and softly. If you have balance problems, you can put one of your hands on a table surface. The BALIMO® is not an ordinary stool but an ergonomic seat trainer with a permanently mobile seat. So sit in the middle of the cushion and place both feet on the floor. Never climb or kneel on the BALIMO®.

For the following exercises, imagine a clock face on the seat of the BALIMO®. Each time therefore stands for a specific tilting direction.

12-6-12 exercise

Tilting movement forwards, backwards and return. Repeat the movement for about 60 seconds.

9-3-9 exercise

Tilting movement from left to right and back. Repeat the movement for about 60 seconds.

12-3-6-9-12 exercise

Circular movement clockwise up to the full hour, starting at 12 o'clock. Repeat the movement for about 60 seconds, then change direction.

BALIMO® – MOVE YOUR ASS.

ECKART MEYNERS – THE BALIMO INVENTOR

The mind behind the BALIMO® – Eckart Meyners

Eckart Meyners never intended to build a chair. But he needed something to help him for the kinetics he developed for riding. This is how the BALIMO® was born. Until now, the teaching of riding as a kinetic theory only related to the horse and not to humans. Eckart Meyner wanted to make the diversity of human movement learning transparent to riders, trainers and judges. This is how the idea of a stool with a mobile seat was born. With the BALIMO® movement trainer, the rider’s movement problems can be tackled at the root and it leads him to an independent and harmonious dialogue with his horse.

But the BALIMO® is not only suitable for riders: it is for everyone who wants to keep their body fit and flexible while sitting. The special thing about the BALIMO movement trainer is that it is able to stimulate the deep back muscles and create an upright, ergonomically natural posture.
